Advantages of using TV Listening Systems
Even folks with the most expensive hearing aids benefit from these assistive listening devices (ALDs) in order to watch TV.
TV programs have a lot of background music, and women's and children's voices are hard to discern for those with hearing loss. Newscasts are easier to hear because the background music is not there, and the newscasters are facing the camera so that their lips can be read as they speak.
In a typical TV program, however, the background music causes problems with clarity. People speak without facing the camera, so important speaking clues are not there to decipher.
So, TV listening systems, such as the TV Ears infrared listening system, process speech from the TV, making it clearer. This system also modulates down the music and other background noise. You can adjust the balance and tones as well as volume.
It really does enhance speech and allows the hearing impaired person to hear the TV as clearly and loudly as they need to, while others can watch the same TV at the lower volume they desire. Pretty nifty!
Many folks would not do without this very popular system. Generally, we sell them as soon as we get them in stock!
