May 2008

Hello, everyone!

Two things we would like to emphasize this month:

Memorial Day remembranceWe want to remember those who have gone before us. Let us never forget.

Ring the Bells of Freedom,
and liberty tolls for we.
Quench the Ring of Freedom,
and oppression tolls for thee.

We also want to recognize May as Better Hearing Month!

New Products Galore

Jim just returned from Minnesota where he received training for the new Unitron products. We'll tell you more about that later in this newsletter.

All the manufacturers are bringing out their newest product lines. One manufacturer alone has 13 new products on slate to be introduced this year. We're really excited about some of the new changes taking place in hearing technology. It's soooo COOL!!

The VIBE, a new hearing device by Siemens

One of the newest products is the VIBE by Siemens. This little beauty is truly amazing! This product is appropriate for mild to moderate hearing losses and is so innovative. The receiver (or speaker) is located at the tip of a slim tube which fits down into the ear canal. The microphone and circuit are in a little device that fits snugly into the crest (bowl) of the ear—as opposed to over the ear! It also comes in really cool snap-on covers so that you can change them to match your mood or your wardrobe. If you'd like to take a look at this latest hearing device, please go to It's Your Vibe web site. Now, really—how cool is that??!!!

GNResound's new hearing device

Not to be outdone in that department, our good friends at GNResound are also coming out with a similar product very soon. However, their little hearing device will fit snugly into the ear canal and be attached to a slim tube with a microphone in the tip that will rest in the crest of the ear—just the opposite composition of the VIBE. This product will also be for a mild to moderate hearing loss. We'll let you know as soon as it becomes available.

The NEXT, a new series of circuits by Unitron

Unitron is a company we love for its great products at great prices. You always receive such a great value with Unitron hearing products. They, too, are coming out with a new series of circuits called NEXT. We like to refer to it as the Element circuit on steroids! All the wonderful Element circuits with the anti-shock and directional microphones will continue to be offered. For just a little more of an investment, the NEXT products will deliver over and above to bring the wearer the following features:
  • The most sophisticated feedback management system
  • Superior approach to automatic with autoPro3 and autoPro2
  • Industry first Comfort-Clarity Balance: gives clients real-time control over speech enhancement and noise reduction
  • Smart Control: not your average remote
  • AntiShock: instantly identifies and minimizes impulse sound characteristics without affecting speech
  • Speech enhancement: identifies the presence of speech and increases gain in any of the bands where it is the dominant signal component
  • OnBoard control: intuitive push-button on ultra-small BTEs programmed as volume control or program button
Each device provides unique features that address individual hearing needs as well as budget preferences. Even the most basic digital device provides some impressive features that provide comfort and clarity to hearing. Very impressive! We're very excited to be able to provide these new products, for mild to severe hearing losses, at a great value to our patients.

The Exelia, a new circuit by Phonak

Phonak, another great company, has a new circuit that provides advanced digital technology to the hearing impaired. Phonak describes the Exelia as a "new paradigm in hearing excellence." The outstanding features of this new circuit include SoundFlow which provides "seamless hearing." The device constantly monitors the hearing environment the user is in, and makes smooth adjustments to the hearing device in real time. ZoomControl uses wireless broadband audio transfer between two hearing aids, so that one can hear what one chooses to focus on, even when not facing the sound. iCom, which allows the user to receive the Bluetooth signal from their cell phone directly to their Exelia hearing aids, allowing the user to hear in both ears! Pretty sophisticated, huh!
